About a week or so ago I was on one of my favorite blogs, Miss Mustard Seed, and her blog was about a having a word of the year. I was inspired by this and proceeded to talk with Hubby about it. He agreed and also thought it was a good idea . . . . . to assign yourself a word of the year to live by. During our conversation, I immediately came up with Hubby’s word but struggled with mine. So channeling Dr. Seuss. . . . . .
I thunk and I thunk
and I thunk some more.
I thunk until my thunker was sore.
The word was not coming
It was straining my brain.
When all of a sudden
The word, here it came.
It opened my heart
And opened my ears
It opened my brain
My word of the year.
I’ll use it to love
I’ll use it to hear
I’ll use it to think
This word of the year.
In case you don’t know, my word in OPEN. I am starting this year with an OPEN mind to all possibilities. There are so many things I would like to do in my life that I have not done or have not followed through on. So I am OPEN to getting more healthy and fit, to renewing my artistic side, to being a better person, friend, mother, wife, sister, etc. and learning to do new things.
Some are minor and take very little time. Others may take longer but I’m OPEN to giving them a try.
When I accomplish any one of these, I will post and let you in on them.
What’s your word of the year?
Hmmmmmmmm… I would like it to be SIMPLIFY but somehow that never seems to happen. How about RELAX? Ok… maybe that one doesn’t work either, except at the beach for one week with all my favorite people. Must think on this one and get back to you…
Thank you Kelly for your comment. I think both of those words are great. I need to learn how to SIMPLIFY myself and ?RELAX? I don’t recognize that word!
RESILIENCE – Able to bounce back and come back stronger even when things don’t go my way! Enjoyed your blog!! I like OPEN and love hearing about your goals! Sounds like an exciting year ahead! I need to learn to sew and play the guitar – those have been on the list for a few years now!!
Thank you Kim for your comment. That’s a great word but I already see you as that person. Of course sewing is something I already love but to play the guitar…what I would give to do that. Go for it!
